From Wroclaw to your job site

Windows from Poland
for US projects

Windows from Poland are European windows fabricated by Polish factories on German, Belgian, Spanish and Polish profile systems - in uPVC, aluminum, wood and aluminum-clad wood. For US projects, the supplied unit runs about $15-25 per square foot in uPVC and $45-95 in aluminum before freight, duty and installation. I am an independent agent based in Wroclaw: I source them, deliver them duty paid to your job site and back them with a 10-year written warranty from my own company.

What are "windows from Poland", exactly?

Two companies stand behind every European window. The system provider designs and extrudes the profiles, gaskets and thermal breaks - Aluplast in Germany, Reynaers and Aliplast in Belgium, Cortizo in Spain, Aluprof in Poland. The fabricatorcuts, welds, glazes and assembles your units to size. Poland is one of Europe's biggest window-making countries, and Polish factories fabricate on all of those systems.

So a window "from Poland" is not a Polish product line - it is a German, Belgian, Spanish or Polish profile system built to your schedule in a Polish factory. That is why the performance numbers match the system provider's data sheet, not the country of assembly.

Is importing windows from Poland worth it?

Importing windows from Poland is worth it when the project needs European performance or design - and has the schedule to wait for it. It is the wrong call for a quick single-window replacement.

Good fit

  • - Custom homes and developments with a full window schedule
  • - Triple glazing, low U-factors, Passive House targets - passive house windows
  • - Inward-opening tilt and turn windows or outswing European casements
  • - Large lift-and-slide doors, slim and steel-look aluminum
  • - Wood and aluminum-clad wood with European frame depths

Not a good fit

  • - One or two replacement windows needed next month
  • - Hurricane / HVHZ coastal zones - I do not serve them
  • - A permit that requires a certified label on a system that does not carry one
  • - Budgets set by builder-grade domestic windows

How to import windows from Poland to the US

Five steps from your window schedule to crates on site. The working range is roughly 9 to 16 weeks from approved shop drawings to delivery.

  1. 1

    Send the window schedule

Architect drawings, a PDF schedule or a rough list of openings. I send a budget estimate the same or next working day, often priced on two or three systems so you can compare directions.

  2. 2

Pick the system and review shop drawings

The fabricator in Poland draws every opening in inches with the exact glass build-up. Shop drawings come back 2-3 working days after the review starts; you or your architect sign off.

  3. 3

    Production at the factory

uPVC runs about 4 weeks, aluminum about 6-8 weeks once drawings are locked. US adaptations - nailing fin, insect screens, high-altitude glazing - are built in at this stage, not retrofitted.

  4. 4

    Ocean freight and US customs

Units are crated, containerized and shipped. Budget about 5 weeks to the East Coast and 6-8 weeks to the West Coast, including customs clearance and the inland leg.

  5. 5

DDP delivery to your job site

Delivered, duty paid: freight, customs clearance and duty are inside the quote. The truck arrives at your site, not at a port you then have to deal with. Installation is done by your local team.

What goes wrong with windows imported from Poland - and how I handle it

The windows are rarely the problem. The problems sit between the factory and your wall.

Sizes and drawings in metric

Factory drawings arrive in millimeters with European rough-opening conventions, and a few millimeters of misreading becomes a re-order.

Every opening is checked against your drawings in inches before production, and shop drawings are signed off by you or your architect.

A window built for Europe, not for a US wall

The default European unit has no nailing fin, no insect screen and glazing that is not built for altitude.

I specify the US adaptations up front: nailing fin where the system offers it, insect screens, high-altitude glazing for mountain projects.

Certification on the permit set

Some building departments want an NFRC label. Not every European system has one.

NFRC-rated units are available on selected systems; if your permit needs one, I quote only systems that can supply it.

Freight, customs and duty surprises

A factory ex-works price grows at the port: ocean freight, customs brokerage, duty, inland trucking.

Quotes are DDP, so freight, customs clearance and duty are already in the number you approve.

Warranty from 5,000 miles away

When a sash needs adjusting two years in, a factory in Europe is not a phone call your homeowner can make.

Windows Guy sp. z o.o. issues a 10-year written warranty on all four materials itself, with no square-footage cap on insulating glass.

Who buys windows from Poland for US projects?

Custom-home builders, design-build firms, architects and developers - with projects in 10+ US states from specification to installation, from Connecticut and New York to Texas, Utah and California. Most start the same way: a window schedule and a budget question.

Windows from Poland - common questions

Are windows from Poland good quality?+

Yes, when they are built on a recognized profile system and checked against your specification. Poland is one of Europe's biggest window-making countries, and its factories fabricate on German, Belgian, Spanish and Polish systems - the same profiles sold across Western Europe. Quality depends on the system, the hardware and the glass build-up you specify, not on the country.

How much do windows from Poland cost in the US?+

Supplied, European windows fabricated in Poland run about $15 to $25 per square foot in uPVC and $45 to $95 per square foot in aluminum in 2026. Wood and aluminum-clad wood are quoted per project. Freight, customs clearance, duty and delivery come on top; my quotes are DDP, so those are already included.

Can I buy windows directly from a Polish manufacturer?+

You can, and some factories export directly. What you then manage yourself is the part that goes wrong: metric shop drawings, US adaptations, certification, freight, customs and warranty service across the ocean. I take that on as an independent agent - one contact, one DDP quote, one warranty issued by my own company.

How long does it take to get windows from Poland to the US?+

Roughly 9 to 16 weeks from approved shop drawings to delivery on the job site. uPVC is the faster end (about 4 weeks of production), aluminum the slower (6-8 weeks), and ocean freight with customs takes about 5 weeks to the East Coast and 6-8 weeks to the West Coast.

Do Polish windows meet US building codes?+

They can. European systems typically beat US energy-code U-factor targets with double or triple glazing. Where the permit asks for a certified label, NFRC-rated units are available on selected systems. Tell me early what your building department needs and I quote only systems that can provide it.

Do you pay duty on windows imported from Poland?+

Yes. Windows imported from Poland are dutiable, and the rate depends on the frame material. On a DDP quote, duty, customs clearance and freight are already inside the price, so the number you approve is the number you pay for delivery to site.

Who handles warranty claims on windows imported from Poland?+

With me, Windows Guy sp. z o.o. does. The 10-year written warranty is issued by my company on all four materials - aluminum, uPVC, wood and aluminum-clad wood - with no square-footage cap on insulating glass. You deal with one contact, not a factory service desk in Europe.
