10-Year Warranty
on the full scope of supply
Every order ships with a written warranty issued by me, not by a factory you have no relationship with. Below is the whole thing in plain language - what is covered, for how long, how a claim works, and what falls outside it.
Coverage periods
All periods run from the delivery date of your order and cover material and manufacturing defects.
| Component | Term | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Frames and profiles | 10 years | Aluminum, PVC, wood, and aluclad. Material and manufacturing defects. |
| Insulating glass - seal failure | 10 years | Any size. No square-footage cap on the units. |
| Glass - stress cracks | 10 years | Non-tempered glass, where the crack traces to a manufacturing defect. |
| Hardware and moving parts | 10 years | Hinges, multi-point locks, tilt-and-turn gear, lift-and-slide trolleys. |
| Factory finishes | 10 years | Standard powder-coated interior and exterior finishes, per AAMA 2605 sections 8.4 and 8.9. |
| Anodized and specialty finishes | 5 years | Anodizing and non-standard finish processes carry the finishing plant's own term. |
| Motorized operators and sensors | 2 years | Electric drives, actuators, and factory-installed sensors, per the component maker's term. |
| Discontinued parts | 1 year | Parts already flagged as obsolete at the time of sale. |
No size cap on the glass
Warranties on insulating glass often stop at a stated area - cover the small units, cap the big ones. That limit lands precisely on the large-format fixed lights and lift-and-slide panels that people import European systems to get.
Mine has no cap. A 130 square foot slider panel carries the same 10-year seal coverage as a bathroom casement. If you are specifying glass at that scale, this is the line in the warranty worth reading twice.
How a claim works
Email me
Send photos, the order reference, and a short description of what you are seeing. That is the whole intake - there is no portal and no ticket queue.
I respond within 14 days
I confirm coverage against your order file, which I keep for the life of the project - every dimension, glass build-up, and finish code.
Repair, replacement, or refund
Whichever fits the defect. Replacement glass and parts are made to your original specification and shipped to the site.
Claims should reach me within 30 days of the defect appearing and inside the coverage period for that component. Remedy is repair, replacement, or refund of the affected item, at my reasonable discretion. The warranty covers the product itself - removal, reinstallation, finishing, and disposal are not included.
What is not covered
Published in full rather than buried, so you can price the risk before you order.
- Installation that departs from the supplied instructions, industry practice, or applicable building codes
- Non-standard installation: sloped or non-vertical glazing, inverted or out-of-square setting, field mulls
- Use or installation beyond the design limits stated for the product
- Insulating glass installed above 5,000 feet without capillary tubes, unless capillary tubes were specified in the order
- Installation near pools, saunas, hot tubs, or other high-humidity or chlorine environments
- Failure to follow the care and maintenance instructions supplied with the order
- Inappropriate cleaners or chemicals - brick wash, solvents, razor blades
- Misuse, modification, accident, negligence, or third-party additions such as applied films and tinting
- Movement or settling of the structure the product is installed in
- Extreme weather events and Acts of God
- Water infiltration that does not trace to a manufacturing defect
- Normal wear and tear, and normal discoloration or fading of finishes
- Glass imperfections within ASTM or industry tolerance that do not affect structural integrity
- Condensation, frost, mold, or mildew - these track building humidity, not a product defect
- Finish corrosion caused by air pollutants, acid rain, salt, sand, or other corrosive substances, beyond what is expressly covered above
This warranty is the only warranty on the products supplied. It does not extend to consequential or incidental damages, and liability under it will not exceed the price paid for the affected product or component. Certifications and performance ratings are not performance warranties. Determining suitability and code compliance for the building - including flashing, sealing, drainage, and water management design - remains with the buyer, architect, contractor, and installer.
Warranty questions
Who issues the warranty - you or the factory?+
I do. Your contract is with Windows Guy sp. z o.o., and the warranty is mine to honor. That matters when something goes wrong in year four: you email me, not an overseas support desk in a language you do not speak. Behind the scenes I hold matching or better cover from the production side, but that is my problem to manage, not yours.
Is there a size limit on the glass coverage?+
No. Seal failure on insulating glass is covered for 10 years regardless of unit size. A 130 square foot lift-and-slide panel carries the same coverage as a small fixed light. Size caps are common in this industry and they tend to bite on exactly the large-format glazing that people buy European systems for, so I do not apply one.
When does the warranty start?+
On the delivery date of your order. The periods above run from that date, and the coverage transfers to the owner of the building where the products were first installed.
What do I need to make a claim?+
Clear photographs, your order reference, and a description of the defect. Claims should reach me within 30 days of the defect appearing and inside the coverage period for that component. I respond to every claim within 14 calendar days.
Does the warranty cover installation or removal costs?+
No. The warranty covers the product - repair, replacement, or refund of the affected item. Removal, reinstallation, finishing, and disposal are not included. This is standard across the window industry on both sides of the Atlantic, and it is why I put real effort into shop drawings and installation support up front.
What happens if a part has been discontinued by then?+
I keep the full specification of every project on file, so replacements get made to your original dimensions and build-up rather than substituted with the nearest catalog item. Where an exact part no longer exists, the replacement may differ in detail from the original. Parts already discontinued at the time of sale carry a 1-year term.
