Three ways to buy European windows
All three can work. Here's what you're actually choosing between.
| Factory direct | Large import broker | Independent agent (me) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who you deal with | Export department, language gap | Sales rep, then hand-offs between teams | Me, start to finish |
| Speed to numbers | Weeks | Consultation call first | Same or next working day |
| System choice | One factory's catalog | Many systems, house favorites | Matched to your project - no quota, no preferred brand |
| Landed cost | You arrange freight and customs | Quoted - check what duties are included | DDP: duties, freight, and customs in the price |
| Accountability | Usually ends at the port | Spread across departments | One name on everything: mine |

Tariffs changed in 2026.
Your price already includes them.
Section 232 duties on aluminum products increased in 2026. Every DDP quote I send includes current duties, ocean freight, and customs clearance - the number you see is the landed number. If a savings claim you've seen elsewhere doesn't mention duties, ask how the math holds up.
Even with duties in, the landed number competes with what you'd pay for comparable US premium systems.

European windows in the US
questions I get asked most
Straight answers on cost, code, shipping, and lead times - from someone who does this every day.
How much do European windows cost in the US?+
It depends on the system, glazing, and size, but as a working range, premium European aluminum windows typically land between comparable US architectural brands and well above builder-grade domestic units - while delivering better thermal performance, slimmer sightlines, and larger spans. Every estimate I send is DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), so the number includes duties, ocean freight, and customs - the landed cost, not a factory teaser price. Send me your window schedule and I will return a budget estimate the same or next working day.
Are European windows worth it for a US project?+
For envelope-driven custom homes, Passive House builds, and developer projects with significant glass area, yes - the performance, sightlines, and large-opening capability are hard to match domestically at the same spec. On commodity-grade openings, a domestic package is usually fine. I will tell you honestly which side of that line your project falls on.
Do European windows meet US building code (NFRC, NAFS)?+
They can. CE marking under EN 14351-1 is the EU baseline; for US acceptance, plan reviewers often want NFRC-rated U-factor and SHGC plus AAMA/NAFS structural data tied to the actual configuration. I match systems that carry the documentation your jurisdiction needs and provide the performance package with the quote.
How do European windows get shipped to the US?+
I handle the entire import chain on DDP terms - factory production, crating, ocean freight, marine insurance, customs clearance, duties, and final-mile delivery to your job site. You prepare the openings and receive the truck. Everything in between is one price and one point of contact: me.
What is the lead time for European windows?+
Plan on roughly 16 weeks from approved estimate to on-site delivery: 2-3 working days for shop drawings after our review call, about 8 weeks of production, and about 6 weeks for ocean freight and customs. I give you a delivery date you can build a schedule around and keep you updated at each stage.
Which European window system is right for my project?+
That is exactly what I help you figure out. Because I am manufacturer-independent, I match the system to your project - tilt-and-turn or casement, aluminum, PVC, wood, or aluclad, double or triple glazing, slim steel-look sightlines or maximum thermal value - based on your design, climate, and budget rather than whatever one factory happens to sell. Send me your drawings or window schedule and I will recommend the systems that fit.
What is the difference between European and American windows?+
European windows typically use tilt-and-turn operation with multi-point perimeter locking, deeper insulated frames, and triple-glazing as standard rather than an upgrade - which is why they seal tighter and perform better thermally and acoustically. American windows are built around casement, double-hung, and single-point hardware. For premium and high-performance projects, the European construction is usually the stronger envelope.
