Hill Road Residence

Hill Road is the kind of project where the windows carry the architecture. The house reads as a traditional Greenwich build - steep gables, deep eaves, a masonry base - but the openings are far larger than that language usually allows, and the grid pattern has to look like steel rather than aluminum for the elevation to work at all.

That is what the steel-look system is for. The profiles are narrow enough to hold a fine muntin grid across a two-story gable window without the frame reading as bulk, and the bars are applied to both faces of the glass with a matching spacer in the cavity - simulated divided lights - so the grid keeps its depth from inside and out. A true divided light would mean dozens of small sealed units and a thermal penalty to match; SDL gives the same elevation off one large pane.

The bifold doors are the counterpoint. Where the windows are all fine grid and traditional proportion, the ConceptFolding 68 openings fold flat to one side and leave nothing in the middle - the one place the house drops the historic language entirely.

I photographed this one during a site visit in July 2026. Every unit was already in and sealed, with the general contractor working around them - which is exactly the sequence you want when the glazing arrives from Europe on a fixed container schedule.
